The main area of my research is aerosol science. Experimental work includes the characterisation of particle emissions due to corona ion production near to power lines, car exhausts, stir-fry cooking and candle burning using the group's custom-built small ion spectrometers, with reference to potentially harmful effects on human health. I am also undertaking theoretical studies relating to ion attachment to aerosols downwind of powerlines.
